Pagoda

Pagodas are seen in Asian countries like Nepal, China, Vietnam, Japan etc They’re said to have originated from India as a Buddhist religious building.

Pagodas have a long history. Some were built as early as 7th century, one in early 12th century was commissioned by the emperor of Song Dynasty, China. They are built with varying materials - some wooden, others brick.

The multiple eaves - overhang edges of a roof - of a Pagoda contribute to its architectural beauty. Aside the eaves, pagodas have a square base and a spire projecting from the roof.

Pagodas are built in 5 tiers to represent the 5 elements of earth - Water, fire, earth, wind and space. (Watched Avatar before 🤪)

Japan is said to have the most beautiful pagodas - because of the extra flair of the pagoda eaves. The pagodas here are built with wood because of earthquakes, but this makes them more predisposed to fire outbreaks.
