Soweto towers

Soweto towers were the cooling towers built for the Orlando power station after WWII in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was a coal powered plant.

After the power station was decommissioned more than fifty years later, the Soweto towers were converted into cultural icons for the city and for entertainment.

One of the Soweto towers is dedicated as an advertisement billboard and the other has a large mural painting - the largest in the country.

There are also sport activities like bungee and BASE jumping from the connections between the two towers. The towers are 100 metres tall and have been depicted in mainstream television.
