Orange River

Arising from Senqu River in the Kingdom of Lesotho, Orange travels 2250km Westward towards the Atlantic Ocean. It is not Orange in color!

The longest River in South Africa, Orange takes its source from the Indian Ocean on the East and moves West through South Africa to drain into the Atlantic and define the border between Namibia and S/Africa.

Orange River was named after Prince of Orange, an official title of Dutch ruling house. Augrabies - translates to “place of many noise” - cataract of Orange River is one of the largest in the world.

Seclusion, wildlife and absence of malaria vectors makes Orange River as beloved tourist destination. There are two wildlife national parks along the course of the River.

Harnessing it’s strength as an hydroelectric power supply, there’re dams on Orange River in South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho.
