Gradually, starting from the late 20th century, Taekwondo came into world stage as an international game featuring in world Olympics as a combat sport.
Taekwondo is the Korean version of martial arts which translates into “Fist, foot and way.” That is, the way of using the fist and foot which comes in form of modern kicking and boxing but with traditional Korean style.
After WWII, martial arts school called “Kwans” were opening up in Korea teaching at the start martial arts with the influence of Japanese and Chinese arts. The indigenous Korean form being Taekkyon. Later on, Taekkyon was incorporated and blended to form the current ones.
The school where instructions on Taekwondo is given is “Dojang.” The uniform is called “Dobok” and usually white except for special groups, a belt like black signifying the rank is tied at the waist...
....Here comes when someone claims to be a black belt.
Each rank of the game is called a “Dan.”
Taekwondo place emphasis on spinning kicks, head height kicks, jumping and fast kicking techniques.
