Carnation 🌸

 

Carnation is a perennial flower that represents different meanings in various cultures and countries. It grows as an herbaceous plant with greenish leaves but produce flowers pinkish-purple.

However, with hybrid cultivars all over the world, flowers of carnation now have a wider variation.

Internationally, carnation flower is used alongside red rose to symbolize the labor movement on May Day. For Chinese weddings, carnation flowers make the day. 

In Korea, red and pink carnations are worn on parents day to show gratitude and admiration for parents. USA and Canada also wear carnations on Mother’s Day.

In France, purple carnation flowers are given as condolence gift in mourning. In the University of Oxford, white carnations are worn for the first exam, pink for the exams in between, red for the last paper📝 

Carnation flower is the national flower of Spain, Monaco and Slovenia. State flower of Ohio is the scarlet carnation.
