DNA staircase

White in color, spiral shaped, six stairs gracing the Garvan Institute Of Medical Research in Darlinghurst, Australia.

Interior of the institute.

The stairs is made as a DNA helix, with glass slides and railings connecting the six levels of the building.

The institute base their medical research of diseases on the genes (DNA segments) bringing about the DNA stairs.

Genes of an individual include hereditary material. It determines that individual’s response to drugs and susceptibility to disease.

The history of Garvan institute goes back to 1963 when it was established. The new building was erected in 1997.

The institute is not only famous for its DNA stairs, it also has one of the largest genome printing to its name.
