The great Wall in China stretches over a wide range of land of more than 21,000km long. The walls are 6-7metres high and 4-5metres wide on average, to walk it's length will take about 18 months.
The Wall follows a multiple course in the northern border breaking barriers posed by the mountainous slope. Various sections of the wall was built by several dynasties starting from 206 BCE up until the Ming dynasty.
The great Wall served as a means of protection against invaders, border control on goods, immigration and emigration.

Some parts of the wall have been built before the discovery of bricks and more than millions of workers are believed to have been involved in its construction over generations.
The wall has been prone to decay and vandalism but those beside Beijing (the Chinese capital) have been repaired. The great Wall is one of the most imposing and extensive construction of human history.
