Rhine

Before attaining sovereignty, Julius Caesar used his military exploits to attain popularity in Rome. One of his groundbreaking feats was crossing the Rhine.

The Rhine is the second longest River in Central and West Europe. It starts its course from Switzerland and moves to define the borders between France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Draining into the North sea through the Netherlands, the Rhine has served as a natural border for the Roman Empire and its successors for centuries.

Germanic tribes were infiltrating the Roman province of Gaul (now France) in the first century BC, believing the natural fortress of the Rhine would protect them.

But Julius Caesar took the tribes on with his two horns 😂. He built the first bridge ever to cross the Rhine in 10 days and marched across but didn’t fight. He led back his troops to Rome in days and broke down the bridge. He built again years later and broke it down again.

To what end - “Don’t dare us, we can crush you anytime.” 😜
