Vicissitudes

 

Vicissitudes as a word gives a summary of our everyday lives; the good and bad, ups and downs.

As a noun, vicissitude stem from Latin “vicis” which means change. The change in circumstances, change from day to night, change from one state to the other. As vivid as it is, we experience these changes everyday.

The joy we feel when good things happen, the emotional downturn when bad things happen. The realization of being better at something of which we were failures, the one minute change from unknown to celebrity status. The disappointments. The changes associated with stock markets - all vicissitudes of life.

As much as we don’t like the “bads,” they will always come. This is why a smile comes to my face when I remember a promise of two lovers to stay with each other throughout the Vicissitudes that life will surely bring 😇.
