Atlanterhavsveien

In English, Atlanterhavsveien means Atlantic ocean road. It’s one of the most scenic roads linking small Norwegian islands and skerries formed by the Atlantic ocean’s infiltration into the Western coast of the country.

The road was completed in 1989 having 8 bridges and running a course of about 5 miles trailing a snake like pattern. The most famous and longest of the bridges is Storseisundbrua.

Named one of the engineering feats of the century and a National tourist route, It’s a road open to automobiles, cyclers and pedestrians.

Originally the course of the road was planned for a railway, but now the road presents a better sight of the fishing villages, Ocean, resting houses with the beautiful scenery.

It also serves transport, recreation and other activities.

Fishing is a long time tradition in Norway and some of these islands fuel the fishing industries. You might be chanced to see seals, seabirds, sea eagles, wave surfers..
