Quadiriki caves

Aruba island is one of the four countries that make up the kingdom of Netherlands. The small island is found above the South American continent.

In the National park of Aruba there are numerous caves altogether called the caves of Aruba. Out of all are three prominent caves one of which is the Quadiriki caves.

Quadiriki caves is also called Guadiriki caves. It has petroglyphs and other markings common to ancient caves which support that human presence dates far back a thousand years.

Entry into the caves is the base of a limestone cliff. The caves has two large sections, both dome shaped and light enters through openings in the roof giving the caves a spectacular view.

Among the natives, it’s believed that long ago the daughter of a chief was disallowed to marry her love 💕. She was imprisoned in the Quadiriki caves while her love was imprisoned in Huliba caves. Though the story concludes they died in their individual caves, it also says that they met underground 😜.

One of the Quadiriki caves is closed to outsiders because it is the natural habitat of harmless bats - its to encourage nature conservation.

Now I have one more place I must visit...
