Lake Baikal
Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater lake by volume in the world.
Found in southern Siberia, Russia, at it's border with Mongolia. It has translations in Russian and Mongolian languages. In Mongolian it means nature lake.
It's the deepest lake and estimated to be the oldest. It is divided into three basins; North, south and central. The rift valley which formed the lake is the deepest on Earth which is still active with it's hot springs and earthquakes. It experiences stormy weather as well.
Lake Baikal is flanked by mountains and has a coniferous forest on it's shore which is designated as a national park in a bid to protect it. It has quite a number of landlocked island within it.
The area around the lake has a far back history of human occupation and has a long list of explorers and discoveries. It's a site of research, invites tourists and investors, also boost local economy ✌️.

Despite the hundreds of rivers flowing into it as tributary, it drains through only the Angara river ( 😏, typical of a lake).
During winter it's covered with ice. It has a vast collection of aquatic life, it's Flora enormous, it's Fauna commendable. Most of these nature beauties are endemic to lake Baikal, species even bear it's name, e.g Baikal seal, Baikal bush warbler.
