Elizabeth’s Tower

A known landmark of United Kingdom, Elizabeth’s tower formerly the clock tower, has national symbols that represent the four nations that make up United Kingdom.

The tower is commonly called “Big Ben” which is the actual nickname for the largest of the 4 bells which chimes inside the clock. The clock tower was renamed Elizabeth’s tower in 2012 to commemorate the queen’s diamond jubilee.

The tower was constructed as part of the reconstruction of Westminster palace following a fire event more than a century ago.

Commemorating major events, the clock would be shot off during a state funeral. Apart from this, in its lifetime, the clock had been renovated over time and witnessed major wars.

Now a famous tourist attraction and national landmark, the tower is seen easily in the background of scenes of movies set in England.
