The Dolomites are a mountain range in Northeastern Italy. They form part of the Alps mountain range.


The Dolomites are made up of 18 peaks spread over 7 provinces. They are very important in the study of geology, earth science and insights into history of life on earth.


Dolomites are famous for been a tourist and holiday destination. Due to the large number of tourists, the provinces have been making efforts to conserve its natural beauty.


Sporting is also encouraged in the Dolomites; there is a day set apart annually for bicycle races along the mountain passes.


The Dolomites are a designated UNESCO world heritage site for its long history of life on earth and geomorphological importance.
